Tranylcypromine

Tranylcypromine is an antidepressant medication. This medication is prescribed for patients who suffer from severe or chronic feelings of depression, worthlessness, guilt and anger. It changes the chemical balance in the brain in order to promote mental health and balance.

Side Effects/Warnings

Some patients, especially those who are younger than 24, may become suicidal while on this medication. Suicidal depression is characterized by an obsession with death, the desire to die and thoughts of self-harming behaviors. People who have this type of depression are in danger of harming themselves. All people who are on antidepressant medications should be monitored for suicidal feelings and danger of self-harm.
