Tinidazole
Tinidazole is used to treat serious infections of the intestines, most notably giardiasis and amebiasis. It is also used to treat a sexually transmitted disease called trichomoniasis. This medication works by killing protozoa in the intestines and genital area that are responsible for these diseases.
Side Effects/Warnings
This medication may cause cancer. Although there are no scientific studies proving that it causes cancer, another medication that is similar has been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals. Thus, this medication should only be used to treat serious infections that do not respond to other types of medication. Taking this medication unnecessarily also increases the risk of developing protozoa resistance, which can make the medication less effective if you develop a disease that it usually treats.
