Thiothixene
Thiothixene is a conventional antipsychotic medication that is used to treat disorganized thinking, delusions and hallucinations associated with schizophrenia. This medication works by decreasing the amount of abnormal activity in the brain so that sufferers no longer have psychotic episodes where they are out of touch with reality.
Side Effects/Warnings
This medication should be prescribed only for use in schizophrenic patients; it should not be used to treat other mental illnesses, especially age-related psychotic dementia. Elderly people should avoid this medication because taking conventional antipsychotics increases the chance that they will die of a heart attack or bout of pneumonia.
