Telmisartan
Telmisartan is prescribed in response to high blood pressure. This medication lowers blood pressure levels by inhibiting the body’s ability to produce an enzyme that narrows blood vessels. As a result, blood vessels become wider, causing blood pressure to drop significantly. This medication may be prescribed in conjunction with other blood pressure medications.
Side Effects/Warnings
Pregnant women should avoid taking this medication so that they don’t harm their unborn fetuses. ACE inhibitors like Telmisartan are often fatal to developing fetuses. If the fetus survives exposure to this medication, the baby may be born with serious birth defects.
This medication can cause blood pressure to become abnormally low. If you feel unusually dizzy or drowsy after taking this medication, call your doctor immediately.
