Streptozocin is an antibiotic that is used only for chemotherapeutic purposes. This medication is used to treat certain types of pancreatic cancer. It works by slowing the growth of cancer cells in the hopes of eventually eradicating cancer from the body.
This medication can decrease the amount of blood cells your bone marrow produces. This can cause your immune system to work less effectively.
Streptozocin is associated with kidney damage and disease. The longer you take this medication, the more likely you are to have kidney disease. Get immediate assistance if you have difficulty urinating, lower back pain, extreme fatigue and nausea or vomiting.
