Stavudine

Stavudine is one of several drugs prescribed to help treat HIV. This medication slows the HIV virus’ ability to spread throughout the body. It works in conjunction with other HIV medications to keep people who are HIV positive healthy and prolong their lives.

Side Effects/Warnings

This medication can cause damage to both the pancreas and the liver. As a result, patients may develop two potentially fatal diseases: pancreatitis and lactic acidosis. Symptoms of these conditions include:
