Salsalate is a non-steroid antinflammatory drug, or NSAID. NSAIDs are often used to manage pain related to osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or other conditions that cause swelling and inflammation of the joints. This medication helps reduce inflammation by inhibiting the production of a body substance that causes inflammation, pain and fever.
