Ribavirin /interferon

Ribavirin and Interferon are often used together to help treat Hepatitis C infection. Patients need to take both of these medications in order to stop the spread of the disease and increase their chances of being cured of the disease altogether. It’s important to take both medications for maximum effectiveness; taking only one of the two medications might not be as effective.

Side Effects/Warnings

This combination of medications is dangerous to fetuses. Both women on this medication and male partners should avoid taking the medication if they are trying to start a family. Women and their partners should use two forms of birth control while on this medication in order to avoid accidental pregnancy. Patients should wait six months after taking the medication before trying to conceive.
