Oxycodone Hydrochloride (Oral Solution)
Oxycodone hydrochloride is an oral medication that is dispensed for severe pain. This medication blocks nerve impulses that signal pain to the brain so that patients don’t feel chronic or severe pain. This medication is sometimes given to patients who have become tolerant of other narcotic medications.
Side Effects/Warnings
This medication contains a narcotic drug and is potentially addictive. Patients who have a history of addiction, especially addiction to and abuse of narcotic drugs, should avoid this medication if at all possible. Patients also should use the drug only as prescribed and should not raise their dose or take the drug more often than their doctor directs.
Overdose of this medication can be fatal. This medication should be kept away from others who have not been prescribed it, especially children, to reduce the risk of fatal overdose. In addition, it should only be prescribed to patients who have become tolerant to other narcotic medications.
