Mestranol is sometimes combined with Norethindrone in order to make birth control pills. This form of birth control uses female hormones to stop the body from releasing eggs and to help block sperm from fertilizing eggs. It also makes the uterus wall thinner to stop any eggs that do become fertilized from implanting.
