Misoprostol
Misoprostol is used to protect the stomach against the side effects of pain medications that cause ulcers. It is usually used by arthritis patients and patients who take aspirin. The medication decreases the amount of stomach acid the body secretes and coats the stomach lining to protect it from ulcers.
This medication is also sometimes used to induce labor in pregnant women or to induce a miscarriage in women who want to terminate their pregnancies.
Side Effects/Warnings
