Milnacipran

Milnacipran is used to treat pain and stiffness related to fibromyalgia. This medication helps relieve muscle pain related to this condition by changing the chemical balance in the brain. Side Effects/Warnings

This medication can cause suicidal feelings in some patients, especially those who are younger than 24. The brain chemicals it affects can cause depression, suicidal thoughts and self-harming behaviors in some people. People on this medication should be monitored for self-destructive behaviors, especially during the first few weeks of taking the medication.

Long-term use of this medication leads to physical dependence. Patients who want to stop taking the medication should consistently lower their dose over a period of weeks rather than stopping all at once.
