Losartan

Losartan is prescribed for patients who suffer from high blood pressure. High blood pressure requires the heart to pump harder to keep blood flowing, so it’s important to get it under control in order to decrease the risk of heart attack or stroke. This medication lowers blood pressure by interfering with the body’s ability to produce an enzyme that narrows blood vessels.

Side Effects/Warnings

This medication can be fatal to fetuses; if the baby is born alive after being exposed to it, he or she will have serious birth defects. Women should not take this medication while pregnant and should stop or switch the medication if they become pregnant.
