Lapatinib
Lapatinib is a breast cancer chemotherapy drug. It is given in conjunction with Xeloda to people who have advanced breast cancer that has not responded to other types of chemotherapy. This medication helps slow the growth of cancer cells by blocking a protein that signals these cells to grow.
Warnings/Side Effects
This medication can cause severe liver damage. Patients who have had liver disease may not be able to take the medication. You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Nausea
- Severe vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Jaundice
- Brown urine
- Black, tarry stools
