Ifosfamide is a chemotherapy drug that is used to treat testicular cancer and bone and soft tissue sarcomas. This drug is injected into the body in order to slow the growth of cancer cells and eventually eliminate cancer from the body.
This medication can cause serious problems in your urinary tract. Doctors usually prescribe another medication along with this medication in order to reduce the chances of urinary tract problems. Patients are also in danger of becoming dehydrated while on this medication; they must drink liquids constantly or get hydration via an IV while on ifosfamide.
Patients on this medication may also experience a sharp drop in both red and white blood cells, causing fatigue and infections.
