Gadoversetamide
Gadoversetamide is one of several medications that may be used to help create contrast on an MRI. This medication is injected into the vein shortly before the MRI scan in order to create differences in the magnetic field. This allows doctors to more easily see any tumors or other problems when looking at the MRI.
Side Effects/Warnings
This medication can cause kidney problems if it is left in the system for too long. For most people, this isn’t a problem because the drug is quickly eliminated from the body; however, if you have kidney disease already, the drug may stay in your body for too long. This can cause damage to your kidneys.
Patients with other serious conditions should talk to their doctors, as this medication can make the condition worse.
