Exenatide (extended release)
Exenatide is an injectable medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. This medication stimulates production of insulin in the pancreas in order to keep blood sugar levels under control. It is usually used in conjunction with dietary and exercise changes in order to keep diabetes under control.
Side Effects/Warnings
This medication has been shown to cause an increase in thyroid tumors in laboratory rats. There are currently no studies on whether humans who take the medication have increased risk of thyroid tumors.
There is a risk of low blood sugar with this medication. If you feel extremely dizzy or drowsy while on this medication, seek emergency medical assistance.
