Etoposide is a chemotherapy drug that is used to treat cancer of the testicles. This drug is usually administered in conjunction with other chemotherapy drugs and is used when the cancer hasn’t responded to other medications. It works by slowing the growth of cancer cells in the body.
Patients who are on this chemotherapy medication may have abnormally low white blood cell counts. As a result, they may develop serious infections. Contact your doctor right away if you have unusual, excessive bleeding, especially if it is accompanied by fever, sore throat or vomiting blood. Patients on this drug may also bruise easily.
