Ethinyl Estradiol/Norethindrone (Oral)

Norethindrone is a pill that women who are capable of getting pregnant take regularly in order to minimize the risk of accidental pregnancy. This medication is comprised of female hormones; taking these hormones causes the body to react as if it were already pregnant. The medication stops women from ovulating and makes it harder for an accidentally fertilized egg to adhere to the uterus wall.

Side Effects/Warnings

This medication can increase the risk that a woman has a heart attack or stroke. Women over the age of 35 and women who smoke are at greater risk of cardiovascular problems while on the medication than younger women and those who don’t smoke.

This medication also does not prevent against sexually transmitted diseases
