Estradiol (Vaginal Cream, Tablets)
Estradiol is a medication that can help raise menopausal women’s estrogen levels. After menopause, many women experience a large drop in estrogen levels, which can cause a variety of unpleasant symptoms. Women who experience vaginal sensitivity as a result of their lowered estrogen levels may use vaginal cream in order to thicken the vaginal lining as well as increase their estrogen levels.
Side Effects/Warnings
Women who use estrogen cream are more likely to develop endometrial cancer, which is a serious disease affecting the lining of the uterus. Women should consider having a hysterectomy in order to avoid the possibility of cancer. Women may also develop breast cancer while on this drug.
Women who take Estradiol are also at increased risk of stroke, especially if they smoke.
