Ergotamine
Ergotamine is a medication that is used in conjunction with caffeine to treat migraine headaches. This medication can be taken orally or inserted as a rectal suppository. The medication prevents and treats headaches by stopping blood vessels in the brain from expanding.
Side Effects/Warnings
This medication interacts badly with certain other medications. You should not take this medication if you are currently taking medications for HIV, especially protease inhibitors such as Crixivan or Nelfinavir. You should also avoid this medication if you are taking any antifungal medications.
Side effects of this medication include nausea and vomiting. This medication can also cause changes in your heart rate and dizziness; contact your doctor immediately if you experience these negative effects.
