Docetaxel
Docetaxel is a chemotherapy drug that is injected into patients in order to combat some types of lung, breast, prostate, stomach and head and neck cancers. This drug works by slowing the growth of cancer cells so that cancer can’t spread and so cancer cells die.
Side Effects/Warnings
Patients who have severe liver dysfunction are at a higher risk of mortality when taking this drug. Patients may also suffer from low levels white blood cells. This makes these patients more prone to serious infections because their immune system is compromised from taking Docetaxel. Patients should call their doctors immediately if they experience fever, chills, nausea or sore throats while on this medication.
