Diclofenac potassium

Diclofenac potassium is prescribed to help manage osteoarthritis pain. This drug helps reduce inflammation and swelling, which contribute to pain. This medication can also be used to treat pain and inflammation from other illnesses and conditions such as migraine headaches and menstrual cramps.

Warnings/Side Effects

Patients who use this medication have a higher risk of suffering a sudden, fatal stroke or heart attack than those who do not use this medication. This is especially true for patients who have a family history of heart disease or have had bypass surgery.

Elderly patients are at risk of bleeding, ulcers or perforation of the stomach. These problems occur suddenly and may be fatal.
