Dextroamphetamine

Dextroamphetamine is a stimulant medication that is used to treat two neurological disorders. It is commonly prescribed for narcolepsy, a condition in which a person feels extremely sleepy during the day and may suddenly fall asleep. It is also used to help people with ADHD concentrate and sit still.

Warnings/Side Effects

Amphetamine drugs can be extremely habit forming. Patients who have ever had a drug or alcohol problem should be careful when taking this drug. It’s especially important not to take more of the medication than prescribed and not to take the medication more often than directed. Doing so is a sign of addiction.

This medication is physically as well as psychologically addictive. The body adjusts to the presence of the drug and doesn’t function properly without it. Patients should not abruptly stop taking the drug because doing so can lead to severe depression as well as physical health problems such as high blood pressure and seizures.
