Bleomycin
Bleomycin is a drug used to combat various types of cancer, including cervical cancer, cancer of the uterus and head and neck cancers. This drug is injected into the patient’s system in order to kill cancer cells.
Warnings/Side Effects
Like many chemotherapy drugs, Bleomycin sometimes kills healthy cells as well as cancer cells. This can cause illness and other negative side effects such as losing hair. This drug is particularly toxic to the lungs; patients may develop pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis as a result of taking the drug. Elderly people are at particular risk of developing lung disease as a result of taking Bleomycin.
