Ambrisentan
Ambrisentan is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, or PAH. This medication works by lowering the blood pressure in your lungs and preventing your arteries from becoming thicker. As a result, patients with PAH find it easier to breathe and are able to exercise and carry out their daily activities.
Warnings/Side Effects
Pregnant women should not use this drug because it can cause serious and sometimes fatal birth defects. Women must test negative for pregnancy before they can begin taking this drug and must have a monthly pregnancy test in order to continue taking it. The drug must be discontinued if the patient becomes pregnant.
Some patients have liver problems while on this drug. Patients who have severe stomach pain and nausea, especially if they also experience jaundice, should contact their doctors immediately.
