Daclizumab is injected into the body in order to help facilitate acceptance of transplanted kidneys. This drug suppresses the normal functioning of the immune system so that the patient’s body doesn’t attempt to eliminate the foreign kidney from the body. It is also used on an experimental basis to help multiple sclerosis patients by suppressing the action of the immune system so that it can’t attack vital tissues and organs.
