Tositumomab is a chemotherapy drug that is used to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that has not responded to other treatments or has returned after cessation of other types of chemotherapy. This medication is injected directly into the vein in order to combat cancer. It works by attaching to cancer cells and releasing radiation to destroy those cells.
Side Effects/Warnings
Patients should be aware that this is a radioactive drug. This medication can harm fetuses and cause birth defects, so it should not be taken by pregnant patients.
This medication can also cause serious allergic reactions. If you are allergic to mouse proteins, you are more likely to have a problem with this medication. Your doctor will probably test you for allergies to mouse proteins before prescribing this medication.
