Patients who suffer from eczema, a skin condition that causes dry, itchy skin, may use pimecrolimus cream to control symptoms. This medication is usually prescribed only to patients who have not responded to other types of treatment for eczema. It works by inhibiting the immune system from producing substances that may contribute to eczema.
