Penicillamine
Penicillamine is used to treat three conditions: rheumatoid arthritis, Wilson’s disease and cystinuria. The medication binds to and removes substances from the body that contribute to these diseases, resulting in less pain and suffering and more ability to live a productive life.

This medication can lower patients’ white blood cell count and cause serious infections. Patients should report all signs of infection such as fever, chills and sore throat, to their doctors as soon as possible. The medication can also cause excessive bleeding or cause patients to bruise and bleed more easily. Patients who are allergic to penicillin should not take this medication.
