Lurasidone is an atypical anti-psychotic medication. This medication helps control hallucinations and delusions in schizophrenic people by changing the way that chemicals in the brain interact with one another. It must be taken at the same time every day and should be taken with at least 350 calories worth of food.

Elderly people who suffer from psychotic dementia are at greater risk of dying of a heart attack or of pneumonia if they take this drug. This drug should not be prescribed in order to treat psychotic dementia.
