People who have an iron deficiency or who want to make sure that they have enough iron in their system may take iron containing vitamins. Pregnant women often take this medication in order to make sure that they have enough iron throughout the pregnancy. Most iron containing vitamins and products are taken once a day by mouth.
Side Effects/Warnings
Iron overdose is one of the most common causes of poisoning in young children. Keep all iron-containing products out of reach of children, especially those who are less than six years old.
Patients who have stomach problems such as ulcers should not take iron-containing products.
