Golimumab is injected into patients who have certain autoimmune disorders that cause the body to attack itself. This medication is often used on patients who have rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis to help reduce pain and inflammation. It blocks the body’s production of TNF, a natural substance that contributes to inflammation.
Side Effects/Warnings
This medication suppresses the immune system in order to stop it from attacking the body; thus, patients who are on it are more likely to get infections. Contact your doctor immediately if you have any signs of infection such as fever, chills, sore throat or sores that reappear on a regular basis.
